People come to LSS at different stages in their lives and for different reasons. Each person’s story is unique. We strive to meet our clients, residents, volunteers, partners and donors where they are in life and serve them as individuals so that their lives may be fulfilled. The manager at Centerburg Place, an LSS senior affordable housing community, bought this animated dog because she knew the residents would love it. Much to her delight, they started interacting with the dog, christened Scruffy, and would sit and laugh and even sing with him. Well after Jan 1, the manager put him away for the year, but was shocked when multiple residents came to her asking her to leave our their "therapy dog" Scruffy. So now Centerburg Place has a new mascot that has brought holiday cheer to seniors who have gone through a lot this year. ... See MoreSee Less

Covid has impacted almost every aspect of life for those living in longterm care facilities. Dawn, resident at LSS The Good Shepherd, hasn't been able to see her dad, so he comes every day to visit with her at her window. We cannot wait until this dreadful pandemic is over and our residents, including Dawn, can see their loved ones face to face and enjoy the simple act of a hug, a hand held and a supportive embrace. ... COVID has caused everyone heart aches even our friends here we dont get to see and chat. No furniture to sit on. It's like a ghost building and its scary. Please bring back our lives ❤😷🙏🤗💜
