Steve’s Story

Steve came to Lancaster from Florida to live with his sister. Shortly after his arrival, his sister was imprisoned for a parole violation, and Steve lost his place to stay. With no job and no local relatives or friends to help, Steve found himself on the street. He connected with LSS Faith Mission of Fairfield County and stayed there for a couple of months. After leaving though, things began to slip sideways. There was a shoplifting incident involving food at a grocery store; a suicide attempt; an official diagnosis of bi-polar disease, ADHD, and depression; and again homelessness. Steve is back at Faith Mission and grateful for the assistance. “I’d be on the street right now without this place. It gets rough out there,” said Steve. He appreciates that Faith Mission offers a variety of programs to help people like him to get back on their feet. With their help, Steve hopes to soon get a job and a home of his home so he can be self-sufficient.
