LSS CHOICES understands that domestic violence knows no boundaries. Because intimate partner domestic violence affects everyone, we are fully dedicated to providing services to survivors regardless of sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, native language, race, gender, religion or spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, disability, relationship status or age. CHOICES uses a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to providing services.
24-hour Domestic Violence Crisis, Information and Referral Line
Hotline staff is trained in safety planning and also provide information as well as referrals based on caller’s individual needs. Call 614-224-4663.
Temporary Emergency Shelter
The shelter, which is at an unpublished location, offers a safe refuge for victims and their children who are in imminent danger and have no safe place to go.
Community & Legal Advocacy Services
Community advocates help connect survivors with other programs and services to overcome barriers related to domestic violence. Case managers can also offer legal advocacy services.
Domestic Violence Counseling
Individual counseling is provided by licensed professionals to aid in recovery from trauma related to domestic violence.
Community Education Speakers Bureau
Education is the first step in the prevention of domestic violence. LSS CHOICES strives to educate the community at large about domestic violence in general and CHOICES’ programs and services specifically. We are available to speak or exhibit at community or business events in Franklin County. Contact us if you need a speaker or an information table for your event.
Kennel
Only 3% of domestic violence shelters nationwide can accommodate pets. In partnership with Columbus Humane as an extension of their Safe Haven for Pets program, we offer a kennel for pets of survivors. There is room for 4 dogs and 8 cats as well as pocket pets. Additional space is available at Columbus Humane. Pets receive free and complete veterinary care, vaccinations, microchips and spay/neuter surgery.
