Faith Mission Services
Providing shelter and other services to veterans and those experiencing homelessness
Each year, Faith Mission provides more than 83,000 nights of shelter and nearly 200,000 meals across two campuses to men, women and veterans experiencing homelessness, making us a cornerstone for homeless shelter services in Columbus. In addition, we provide services aimed at ending a person’s homelessness, including case management, employment assistance and a health center.

Shelter
For more than 50 years we’ve seen the effects of homelessness and have been there to help not only with immediate needs like shelter, food and clothing, but also with long-term solutions such as housing, employment and supportive case management. Our shelters are open 365 days a year and can provide safe shelter to 252 individuals each night.
Food
Faith Mission’s food services for shelter residents in Columbus serve breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the year. We provide more than 500 meals a day at both our locations and are thankful for support from meal providers. Our goal is to provide not only a meal, but also to serve healthier meal options including fruits and vegetables at all meals.
Case Management
Our shelters are staffed by highly skilled case managers who are specially trained to assist with the barriers faced by our residents. Case management services for shelter residents are focused on security safe and affordable housing. In addition to housing assistance, case managers also provide much needed links to resources in the community to increase and maintain stability after the shelter stay.
Employment
At the Faith Mission Resource Centers, shelter residents have access to employment resources such as setting up job interviews, writing resumes, learning about training opportunities in the community, and mock interviewing. Residents can utilize the resources centers for independent job search needs or may also complete an assessment and goal plan with staff called an Individualized Employment Service Plan.
Health Center
Health needs of shelter residents are easily met through the availability of the LSS Health Center, a federally qualified health center co-located on the Faith Mission campus that provides easy access to medical, vision, dental and behavioral health services.
Veterans Services
Faith Mission has two programs for veterans in Columbus – emergency shelter beds specifically for veterans and the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, which helps veteran households obtain stable housing, whether they are currently homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless.

Medical Respite
The Medical Respite at Faith Mission, Supported by OhioHealth provides a healing space for people who would typically be discharged home from the hospital, but don’t have a home to go to. Instead, these patients are discharged by OhioHealth hospitals to the medical respite where they can rest and recuperate while also working to find permanent housing.
Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
HOPWA’s goal is improving access to housing and other services for HIV-positive individuals and their families. We provide case management and rental and utility assistance to ensure stability in safe, decent, affordable and sanitary housing. The HOPWA program at Faith Mission is unique as it is the only HOPWA program in Central Ohio focused on identifying and addressing the housing needs of individuals experiencing literal homelessness.
Returning Home Ohio (RHO)
RHO is a supportive housing program serving Ohio’s returning prison population, specifically those individuals exiting state prison who would be homeless at exit or at risk of becoming homeless. The RHO program also specifically aims to serve those with severe and persistent mental illness or HIV/AIDS. The RHO mental illness and HIV support program helps to stabilize individuals after re-entering the community and to reduce returns to incarceration.
No matter their situation, when a person arrives at Faith Mission, they are treated fairly, with dignity and without judgment.
