About Us

LSS Faith Mission is an integral part of the Columbus community by providing safe shelter and more to those without any place to go.

Each year, LSS Faith Mission, a part of the LSS Network of Hope, provides more than 90,000 nights of shelter to men, women and veterans who are experiencing homelessness.

While the stereotypes are impossible to ignore, Faith Mission sees what homelessness and hunger truly look like, every day. Each client’s story is unique, but most often people come to us because they lack a support network of family or friends to withstand a personal calamity. They’re often people who live paycheck-to-paycheck that are experiencing a job loss, illness, or divorce or change in relationship status. People come to Faith Mission for a chance to improve their lives.

It’s our mission to not only help people in need but to maintain their dignity in doing so. Restoring the lives of our clients often starts with helping to restore their self-respect.

History

On February 6, 1966, in response to the City Mission closing, a group of Lutheran pastors and community leaders opened Faith Mission. At 5 p.m. sharp, the doors opened and 14 men entered to eat a hot meal and warm themselves. A lot has changed since those days, but our core mission remains the same—to provide a welcoming meal, safe and warm shelter, and hope for a brighter future.
