Teresa’s Story

“I know I have to do something different this time,” said Teresa when she arrived at the veterans emergency shelter at LSS Faith Mission of Fairfield County.  She had many obstacles to overcome, including homelessness, substance abuse, legal trouble, and medical complications.  As a military veteran, Teresa’s case manager was able to connect her to VA assistance and other services as well.  She was able to pay her court fines, manage her medical issues, and work on her sobriety.  Eventually, she entered a group home where she has a place of her own and easy access to services to help her keep her life on track.
