Since 1977, LSS CHOICES has provided counseling, shelter, crisis intervention, education, and community and legal advocacy to central Ohio residents facing domestic violence.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A part of the LSS Network of Hope, LSS CHOICES\u2019 goal is to interrupt the cycle of domestic violence in this community and advocate for social change. We are the only domestic violence shelter in Franklin County. We provide services to all victims of abuse, including men.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

LSS CHOICES defines domestic violence as physical assault, psychological, emotional, economic and\/or sexual abuse between intimate partners, family members or people who reside together. Domestic violence cuts across all geographic, religious, socio-economic, racial, sex and age barriers. Domestic violence is learned, criminal, generational, cyclical and is correlated with substance abuse. It is estimated that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.<\/p>\n

We believe:<\/p>\n

  • Domestic violence exists and is a problem.<\/li>\n
  • No person has the right to abuse another person.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Everyone has the right to a violence-free household.<\/li>\n
  • CHOICES has a responsibility to victims of domestic violence.<\/li>\n
  • Intervention can help.<\/li>\n
  • PRIMARY responsibility for the acts and behaviors of individuals belongs to those individuals.<\/li>\n
