The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) requires the LSS Board of Directors to have full authority over the LSS Health Center. Therefore, no other individual, entity or committee can have approval authority or veto power over the LSS Board of Directors. Currently the members of the Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio corporation, which are 123 Lutheran member congregations, have authority for bylaws changes and board member selection.
To be compliant with HRSA and allow LSS to continue to provide critical health care, the LSS Board of Directors is asking the members to approve changes to the LSS bylaws giving board members the authority to select its members and make bylaws changes, as well as add language about the LSS Board of Director’s oversight of the LSS Health Center project director role.
